Who will help when it needs attention?
A useful device needs an everyday plan. Print this worksheet and fill it out with the person who will use the technology.
Buying something is only one part of the decision. Someone may need to charge it, update it, find a receipt, or contact support. Agreeing on those jobs now gives everyone a clearer starting point.
No account or email is required. This page has no answer fields and collects none of your worksheet responses. Store the completed paper somewhere appropriate for the contact information it contains. Leave passwords and sensitive personal details out.

Start with the person using it
Write down the task this device is meant to help with, in the user’s own words. Ask what help they want and what they would prefer to handle themselves. Agree before enabling location sharing, notifications to relatives, microphones, cameras, or remote access.
The task we want help with: __________________________________
Sharing and help the user agrees to: __________________________________
Name an everyday helper and a backup
Choose someone who can help with routine setup questions. Agree how to reach them and when they are available. A relative who lives nearby may handle physical maintenance while someone else helps with settings. Do not promise round-the-clock support unless it actually exists.

Make ownership clear
Record whose name is on the device account, who receives billing notices, and who is authorized to ask the provider for help. Use the provider’s supported sharing or delegated-access features where available. Keep passwords, recovery codes, payment numbers and identity documents off this worksheet.

Where the owner keeps recovery instructions securely: __________________________________
Write the recurring jobs
Check the current manual for charging, battery replacement, updates and any required checks. Put each recurring job beside a person and a date or reminder. A task without an agreed person can easily be missed. Record only what applies to the exact model you own.

Plan for ordinary problems
Find the manufacturer’s instructions for lost connectivity, power interruptions and device faults. Write down the provider’s support route and your agreed next step. For safety-related equipment, follow official instructions; do not disable protection or trigger an emergency response for an informal test. This worksheet does not replace an emergency plan.

Make the money and exit route visible
Keep the receipt and written subscription terms. Record the renewal date, return deadline, cancellation method, and who will act. Returning hardware and cancelling service may be separate steps; verify the actual provider process. If the product is no longer useful, revisit the decision instead of allowing an unwanted renewal.
Return deadline / renewal date / responsible person: __________________________________
Cancellation route and receipt location: __________________________________
Schedule a short check-in
Pick a date to ask whether the device is helping with the original task. Let the person using it describe what works, what is frustrating, and whether they still want the sharing settings you chose. Decide together whether to keep it, adjust it, return it, or try a simpler approach.
